Aubrey's career centers on advancing the integration of terrestrial hydrology into predictive modeling frameworks to better understand human influences on water systems. Before joining NCAR, she served as Associate Director of an NGO focused on community and environmental benefit projects, where she led the development and application of models to assess water supply and water quality impacts of alternative urban infrastructure designs. During her PhD, she advanced representations of water and energy partitioning in a coupled ecohydrological model to quantify how forest management and disturbance affect water availability.

At NCAR, Aubrey has become a recognized expert in the WRF-Hydro Community Modeling System and its applications, including the NOAA National Water Model, the NASA LIS/WRF-Hydro coupled system, and the USGS National Integrated Water Availability Assessment. She currently leads the WRF-Hydro team at NCAR and plays key leadership roles in efforts to incorporate terrestrial hydrology into Earth System models, improve hydrologic prediction and early warning capabilities, and develop integrated assessment frameworks to address emerging water availability challenges.
