Research interests

Farshid Felfelani, PhD, has a productive record of scientific research and technical achievement on improving the representation of coupled natural-human hydrologic systems through advancing physics and integration of various satellite products within the framework of Earth System Models (ESMs). Farshid’s work directly tackles the global issues associated with quantity and quality of terrestrial water systems under the dual impact of climate change and socio-economic developments. Farshid obtained his Ph.D. from Michigan State University in December 2019, awarded as the Outstanding Ph.D. Student in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. He has published his work, as the lead/main author, in high-impact journals including Nature Climate Change, Water Resources Research, Geophysical Research Letter, Journal of Hydrology, Hydrological Sciences Journal. In terms of management/mentorship experience, Farshid has served as research mentor for several PhD students and Postdocs who have directly used his model developments in their research.
