Research interests

Hydrometeorology  • Climate influences on disease • Ensemble forecasting • Statistics

Much of my research career has focused on ways science and remote sensing can be used to societal benefit in international settings, developing process models for South Asia, South America, West-, East-, and Southern Africa to improve the predictions of river flows and floods, drought impacts of ENSO, climate impacts on livestock production, and predictions of meningitis to optimize vaccine dissemination; working in collaboration with the World Bank, USAID, the World Health Organization, and other international aid organizations. My US-focused research has utilized statistical techniques to improve weather and streamflow ensemble forecasting, and explore aspects of predictability.
