Tzu-Shun Lin is at the Research Applications Laboratory (RAL), NSF NCAR where he researches land surface modeling, applications, and interactions with the atmosphere. He received a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, U.S., where he explored the effects of environmental changes and human activities on agricultural sectors. He also enhanced the predictive understanding of terrestrial biogeophysics (water, energy and momentum) and biogeochemistry (carbon and nitrogen) processes, as well as their interactions with atmosphere, by developing a land surface model and coupling with WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting) model. He received a B.S. in Earth Sciences from the National Taiwan Normal University, Taiwan, and an M.S. in Atmospheric Sciences from the National Central University, Taiwan, focusing on the research and application of atmospheric (WRF), land surface, hydrological (WRF-Hydro), and air quality (CMAQ) models.
His research at RAL has focused on land surface and atmospheric models. He has been involved in models such as the Noah-MP land surface model and the WRF-Urban model.
