The Cesare Emiliani Lecture honors the life and work of the renowned paleoceanographer and is presented annually during the AGU Fall Meeting. The Emiliani Lecture is webcast and made available as an archived presentation on the AGU website. The Emiliani Lecturer is selected for making outstanding contributions to the field of paleoceanography. This prestigious honor is only bestowed once per individual. The presenter of the Emiliani Lecture is chosen jointly by the Paleoceanography and Paleoclimatology focus group and Ocean Sciences section.
