abstract = "Element failures degrade the performance of an antenna array. The rate of failure depends upon the aperture temperature as well as manufacturing defects. This paper presents a way to compensate for element failures in a thinned transmit array by turning on elements that were thinned in order to replace the failed elements. Both uniform and nonuniform failures are considered.",
