Abstract
An ocean model which can reproduce the timing and relative amplitude of El Nino events off South America in the Pacific Ocean is developed. The model demonstrates that knowledge of the atmospheric wind field allows the simulation of the seasonal and interannual variability of the upper ocean currents in tropical latitudes.-from STAR, 21(13), 1983
