Abstract

Road Weather Forecasting System (RWFS) is developed to provide optimized forecasts of both standard weather and extended highway parameters. The system gives the weather personnel accurate forecasts on event start and stop time, precipitation rate and type, road temperature and wind speed. It helps them to plan their operations accordingly. The system's test results show that it well predicts the light snow event and suggests reasonable road treatments.
