Abstract
A comment on the attempt by Peltier & Clark (J.Atmos. Sci, 36, 1498-1529) to assess the importance of various sources of non-linearity in the mountain wave problem and to show the ability of their model to deliver solutions which matched meteorological observations of the wave field. The authors' reservations are concerned with the difference between Peltier and Clark's interpretation of the underlying wave mechanical processes and their own interpretation of the downslope windstorm mechanism based on linear theory. -from Author
