Abstract

This paper describes a long-range multilayer transport model (LORMAT) developed at Colorado State University. This model simulates the effect of wind shear on a puff by splitting the daytime mixed layer into four sublayers at night. The model incorporates an objective analysis and a linear time interpolation to obtain wind and mixing height fields. A comparison was made between a single-layer transport model (LORMAT). It was found that ATAD simulates the residence time probability patterns reasonably well. If some slight improvements are made to ATAD, such as raising the transport layer height and adding a linear time interpolation, results might be improved.
