Abstract

4D Var data assimilation system, used in European Centre for Medium Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) for gathering information on clouds and rain, is discussed. Satellite data is used in this system to give more accurate results. Efficient calculations are done by using algorithms. This system is said to be is very sensitive to the variable observation. Short range forecast errors are relatively less in this method.
