Abstract

The EPSClim project will contribute to the climatological exploitation of data of two instruments on EPS/MetOp (European Polar System/Meteorological Operational satellite): The GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) Receiver for Atmospheric Sounding, GRAS, and the Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer, IASI. The EPSClim project feeds as a data project the ClimChange project cluster, carried out at the WegCenter/UniGraz in cooperation with international partners within 2006-2009, which aims to investigate the utility of the new GRAS and IASI data, together with other data sources, for long-term climate monitoring and analysis as well as for model validation and improvement. It is also seen as a demonstrator for operational climatological use of GRAS and IASI.
