Abstract

Tables 1 and 2 of the published material [1] contain a series of typographical errors. In Table 1 the exponent of the B term for N2 was corrected to 1012 and ν for the two N2 cases should be ν2 for the King correction factor. In Table 2 the units are (cm2×1027), the N2 calculation at 660.0 nm is 2.21×10–27 cm2 and the O2 calculation at 532.2 nm is 4.66×10–27 cm2. These errors have been corrected in Tables 1 and 2 below. Eq. (1) (calculation of Rayleigh cross-section from the refractive index) and 2 (calculation of refractive index from empirical data) of Ref. [1] are also reproduced here for calculation of the Rayleigh Scattering cross-sections using the values given in Table 1. For air, the calculations account for 360 ppm of atmospheric CO2 following Bodhaine [7]. These errors were in the final typeset manuscript only, and did not affect the findings or analysis of the paper.(formula
