Abstract
An analytical method for retrieving droplet size and liquid water content (LWC) using dual-frequency radar measurements is introduced. In particular, a new parameter, the radar estimated size (RES) is proposed. The relation between the conventionally used characteristic size and reflectivity and attenuation ratio is addressed. Following this, RES is computed using the in situ droplet spectra data. Finally, retrieval of LWC and RES are illustrated using dual-frequency radar measurements.
