Abstract

A three-dimensional finite-volume calculation procedure for incompressible flows in complex geometries is presented. The method uses the staggered grid arrangement and equations are obtained with the contravariant velocities as the main variables so the continuity equation can be satisfied exactly. Moreover, no source terms arise and the objectives of SIMPLE-based methods are clearly followed. A second-order upwind scheme has been implemented to reduce the false diffusion. The calculation procedure here proposed is tested in a curved square duct and the numerical results are compared successfully with experimentals data.
