Abstract

The suite of dedicated ground-based instrumentation and sensors installed on a 90-m tower at the ceiling&visibility (C&V) field site was discussed. The occurrence of a brief fog event was associated with a low cloud system propagating with a 'backdooor' cold front. A brief period of low cloud clearing was observed between 1100 UTC and 1345 UTC. The first observations taken during fog events were studies and serve to illustrate the variable character of fog in the complex environment of the Northeast region (NE).
