Abstract

Chapter 6 provides an overview of the dynamics of fogs and stratocumulus clouds. Included are fog formation mechanisms and various forcing factors that influence fog occurrence and intensity. Likewise factors influencing boundary layer cloud occurrence and intensity are reviewed along with discussions of models used to describe and predict boundary layer clouds. We end with a brief discussion about Arctic stratus clouds.
