Abstract

The significance of the GLOBE program in providing environmental data to students and teachers for use in scientific research is discussed. GLOBE is a series of protocols detailing precise data collection techniques and instrument specifications, alongwith learning activities, teacher training and extensive field support. Distance learning courses allow participants in GLOBE workshops to prepare and review materials, raising knowledge and comfort levels of teachers. GLOBE continues to develop trainer workshops and support partner-based teacher workshops using the U.S. as a testing ground with themes organized around climate, agriculture and watersheds.
