IMAGE RPI reawakens plasmaspheric refilling research

Abstract

Plasmaspheric refilling has received increased attention in recent years following the introduction of the introduction of innovate sensors. "Globaf observations and single flux-tube density observations made by sensors onboard the IMAGE satellite provide data crucial to the deconfliction of previous model's refilling results. This review will serve to highlight the observational and modeling progress since the late 1950s as well as to place in context the progress to be made using the data from IMAGE, specifically the Radio Plasma Imager.
