Abstract

The sensitivity of mesoscale models to variations in initial data was investigated. A 2-D model of frontogenesis that contains prognostic equations for cloud and precipitation water is used to help establish the resolution in the moisture, temperature, divergence and vorticity fields that is necessary to predict precipitation on the mesoscale.-from STAR, 20(5), 1982
