    Abstract

In many cases the spatial filtering used within fluid dynamical calculations has a universal description. This permits a local description of the turbulence and an estimate of the effect of the filtering. Methods have been developed to recover the filtered data from the simulations in a statistical sense and yet produces consistency with the unfiltered scales. An example is presented to demonstrate the usefulness of the method.
