Abstract

The polarimetric examples of dual-polarization radars obtained with the CSU CHILL and NCAR S-Pol research polarimetric radars were presented. The radars utilized two receivers thereby allowing the simultaneous measurement of co-polar and cross-polar components of the backscattered electromagnetic wave. The variables obtained simultaneously were: radar reflectivity factor; differential reflectivity; linear depolarization ratio; total differential phase; specific differential phase; cross-correlation coefficient; and the magnitudes and phases of the two co-cross-polar correlation coefficients.
