Abstract
The kinematic and thermodynamic structure of a TOGA COARE squall line collected by the NCAR ELDORA dual-Doppler radar is presented. In this preliminary study, the vertical pressure gradient force does not aid the updraft near the leading edge of the convection. This is somewhat different from the structure of mid-latitude cold fronts or squall lines. Additionally, the temperature contrast across the line is small which does not resemble the structure of a gravity current.
