Abstract
Juvenile Bairdiella chrysura (Lacépède) (silver perch) were collected hourly from a South Carolina intertidal creek for 10 tidal cycles. Stomach content analyses suggest that silver perch feed nocturnally within the intertidal zone during high tide. The reasons for this feeding behavior are discussed with emphasis on the importance of intertidal areas as regions where energy is transferred from the marsh to the estuary.
