Abstract
The developments done on the study on the NH 3 mass accommodation coefficient for uptake onto sulfuric acid solution was presented. It was demonstrated that a high NH 3 flux was not an issue, since the dependence of the results upon initial NH 3 density was not explored for uptake onto 20-to-70 wt.% H 2SO 4 droplets. It was also demonstrated that the flow in a droplet train is not plug and when diffusion impedes transport to the particles, there is a concentration gradient. It was also found that the net flux of water vapor from the surface that impedes the rate of diffusion of absorbate toward the surface could be of the order of 10% of the uptake rate.
