Abstract

A simulation of the fumigation process was presented by the use of Lagrangian particle dispersion model combined with Large-Eddy simulation. The simulation study shows that the Lagrangian modeling approach, driven by Large-Eddy simulation (LES), is capable to reproduce results from water tank experiments of DW82 and HL96. It was also observed that a near surface crosswind integrated concentration (CWIS) depends on the initial plume height lying within or outside the entrainment zone. A comparative assessment of Lagrangian particle dispersion model (LPDM) and Eulerian diffusion model (EDM) for modeling fumigation, was also presented.
