Abstract

An overview of a new program, Significant Opportunities in Atmospheric Research and Science (SOARS), is presented. SOARS was established to help retain and increase the number of participants from underrepresented minority groups in the atmospheric and related sciences. SOARS includes intensive personal interaction with a science research mentor. The SOARS program encourages students to actively participate in presenting their research projects and results.
