Abstract
SOLO is a window-based software package, running under the UNIX operating system and using the X Window System. The intention is to provide an easy-to-use system for examining radar data. Adistinctive feature of SOLO is its joint perusal/editing capability. A user may choose to peruse until editing is desired and then invoke the editor from perusal without changing the display. Factors contributing to the integration of these two components are the discrete disk files for each sweep and separate user interface controls for the editor adn perusal. Editing is done with a perusal display, display control and editor control on the screen. Users can either invoke editing functions, which upon completion will invoke a display of the last scan modified, or change fields and other display parameters. The user can advance severalscans with or without editing parameters can be set and the entire data set can be modified without a renewed display until completion to simulate batch editing for the entire data source. The constant altitude PPI (CAPPI) portion of SOLO allows display of data at a selected altitude.
