Abstract
Specific heat C(T) and magnetic susceptibility χ(T) of CdV 2O4, ZnV2O4 and MgTi 2O4 pellet samples have been studied over a wide temperature range. At lower temperature, both V-based spinels exhibit structural transitions followed by antiferromagnetic ordering, TS=89K, TN=30K in CdV 2O4, and TS=45 and TN=31K in ZnV2O4. In Ti-based spinel the complex metal-insulator-phase transformation occurs at TMI=260K comprising of structural transition and a spin-singlet ground state formation.
