Abstract
Jooaneum research's 2D-video distrometer provides particle sizes, shape and fallspeed information using two video line scan cameras and an optical illumination system. This distrometer is installed in a van for storm intercepts during the summers of 1995 and 1996 in conjunction with the CSU-CHILL radar using real-time global positioning system (GPS) navigation. The experiment collects insitu hydrometeor data for comparison with the polarimetric radar signatures. Measurements from one intercept on June 22, 1995 are discussed.
