Abstract

The information from the investigation of the microwave spectrum of the atmosphere and its sensitivities to atmospheric components provide the basis for most radiometric retrieval methods. During the investigations, statistical tools were utilized to deal with the variability of vapor and liquid components of atmospheric media both in time and space. Based on these findings, both simple physical and linear statistical algorithms were developed for ground-based radiometers to quantitatively retrieve water vapor and cloud liquid water information under non-precipitation conditions.
