    Abstract

During late summer 2008, US and French engineers and researchers from National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and from the Centre National d'Etudes Spatiales (CNES) have released 17 zero pressure balloons from Near Space Corporation's (NSC) balloon launch facility located on the big island of Hawaii. After being launched, each balloon drifted west from Hawaii towards the Asian Pacific Coast permitting the deployment of about 50 miniature drop sondes per flight over the Pacific Ocean. This balloon campaign was in conjunction with the international THORPEX - Pacific Asian Regional Campaign (T-PARC). The purpose of this paper is to present the CNES development of the balloon control system (house-keeping ISBA gondola and the associated operation control center) for the long duration balloon flights for the T-PARC and CONCORDIASI projects. Also, the recent results of the T-PARC balloon campaign, in terms of balloon operations, will be presented.
