Abstract

The features of the NOAA Operational Model Archive and Distribution System (NOMADS) are discussed. NOMADS is aimed at providing access to numerical weather prediction (NWP) and general circulation model (GCM), developing linkages between the research and operational modeling communities, and fostering collaborations between the climate and weather modeling communities. The system uses data sharing among climate and weather modelers and establishes emerging technologies to access and integrate model and other data stored in geographically distributed repositories in heterogeneous formats. NOMADS also promotes the sharing and inter-comparing of model results and the comparing of model results with observations.
