Abstract

The use of object-oriented verification method for cloud-resolving NWP models. Verification helps in monitoring the quality of forecasts, provide feedback to developers and forecasters, and also provide meaningful information to forecast users to apply in decision making. The method also helps to identify differences among forecasts. With the object-oriented verification approach, forecast and observed precipitation areas are reduced to regions of interest that can be compared to one another.
