Abstract

The VIRAQ (VME Integrated Radar AcQuisition) concept was developed in 1995, along with the development of a portable S-band polarimetric (SPOL) research radar, to optimize the development cycle and ease of use in radar signal processing. The system architecture is described. Three processing elements comprise the core of three signal processor: a digital IF card, a quad processor card, and a video interface card. These elements allow much of the digital design to be reused.
